Stephanie Cadman’s Celtic Blaze is an energetic, creative, theatrical, entertaining and motivating show that appeals to audiences of all ages. Celtic Blaze reflects Canadian heritage through music and dance blended by Cadman’s contemporary, creative edge. Cadman, a world champion tap dancer (Bowfire, The StepCrew), has traveled throughout the world as a dancer and fiddle player.
Joined by the singing and fiddling sensation, Miranda Mulholland, Celtic Blaze’s unique choreography invites you to a Celtic sojourn of dance and music by James Quinn, guitar; Devin Hornby, bass; Kirk White, percussion, and Brad Fremlin, piano and marching snare drum. Audiences young and old will be drawn in to Celtic Blaze’s uplifting musical experience.
Celtic Blaze Musician Bios
Devin Hornby
Devin Hornby is an eclectic and creative bassist currently living in Toronto, ON. Born in Prince Edward Island, he got his start studying piano, and the Scottish bagpipes. He studied with a local classical bassist before receiving a scholarship through the Confederation Centre of the Arts to study at the presidios Humber College Jazz performance school in Toronto, Ontario. In the summer of 2006, Devin played bass for a Canada’s Wonderland production of “School of Rock” in Toronto as well as freelancing around town doing funk, R&B, and blues gigs. He has performed as part of the Canadian National Exhibition Blues Fest, Canadian Music Week, the Toronto International Jazz Festival, and the Burlington Jazz Festival.
James Quinn
Originally from Summerside Price Edward Island, James Quinn has played extensively throughout the East Coast of Canada with many diverse and interesting musical line ups. James got his first taste of an audience when he was hand selected to moonlight in his high school teacher’s band. He was hooked, and has consistently performed live ever since. In 2001, his music brought him to Toronto where he has inspired many with his performances, and as a music teacher. Since relocating, he has opened up his own recording facility, Rocket Sound Studios, where he produces, writes, and records projects for film and television, up and coming artists, as well as continuing to teach and work on his own projects. You can catch James playing live in and around Ontario with his band Ladybird.
Kirk White
Drummer/Percussionist Kirk White has been active in the music scene of Eastern Canada for the past 20 years. Upon completing music degrees from both UPEI and McGill universities, Kirk has pursued a dual career as a music educator (school and private) and freelance musician. Kirk has performed and recorded with a wide variety of solo artists and groups such as: Mae Moore, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Stephanie Cadman and the McGill Percussion Ensemble. Kirk is excited to be part of this second production of Celtic Blaze.
Brad Fremlin
Brad Fremlin moved to Prince Edward Island to work as the principal drumming, piano and theory instructor at Summerside’s College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts. An accomplished percussionist and classically trained pianist, he also plays the accordion and is even bowing the musical hand saw! Brad released his first solo CD of original compositions in 2001. It includes a version of his showstopping “drum salute” on the marching snare which was recorded live in Denmark while touring the world with Richard Wood. He performed in the Charlottetown Festival’s “Celtic Blaze”, and “A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline”, as well as in the popular PEI show “Hedgerow”. Brad was also part a show for Canadian and International troops in Afghanistan in 2006.
Miranda Mullholland
Classically trained on violin and in voice, Miranda is a versatile performer and in high demand as a fiddler and singer covering a wide range of styles. In addition to varied studio work, she has toured extensively in Europe and North America with the celtic rock bands The Mahones and The Peelers, The Paperboys, The Glengarry Bhoys and the alt-country bands Luther Wright and the Wrongs and The Jim Cuddy Band. She was a member of the Canadian cast of Barrage and was the vocal and fiddle soloist for the Irish dance show Spirit of Ireland. Miranda is one of the founding members of the jazz-pop band, The Roaring Girl Cabaret. Currently, she is also the singer for the Celtic Baroque group, Skye Consort (Ombu) and makes select appearances in "Bowfire". Not limited to band performances, Miranda has graced North American stages in various theatre productions as a triple threat - actor, singer and dancer. Miranda can be heard on records by Justin Rutledge, Sarah Slean, N.Q. Arbuckle and Kevin Quain, to name a few, and her debut album for The Roaring Girl Cabaret, "In Last Night's Party Clothes" was released in September to critical acclaim. |
